Hajiya Ubaida Shehu Faruq, Chairperson NTI Staff School Management Board

Hajiya Ubaida Shehu Faruq , the Chairperson , NTI  Staff Model Primary School(NTISMPS) Management Board has commended the  Prof. Garba Dahuwa Azare- led Management for equipping   the school with facilities which included  40 Desk Top Computers.

 Faruq made the disclosure on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 during an interview with The Bulletin in her office at the Institute’s Quality Assurance and ICT Department Complex.

The NTISMPS Management Board Chairperson was recently re-appointed by the NTI Management to head the School’s Seven-man Management Board for another two years beginning from July 12, 2019.

She hinted that other things carried out  for the school by the NTI Management during her first tenure included provision of  customised exercise books with school logo emblazoned on them and  the renovation of 12 out of 15 classrooms in the school.

“During my first tenure as the NTISMPS Management  Board Chairperson , the NTI Management  among other things, renovated six lavatories; repaired desks and chairs in all our 15 classes; recruited 15 casual staff and provided the school with new electricity Generating Set. We on the NTISMPS Management Board wish to register our appreciation for  the NTI Management for being able to respond   to our requests and catering for the welfare of our staff,’’ she said.

Faruq listed some of the achievements recorded  during her first tenure to have included the provision of  teaching Aids to the Nursery section of the school and the  reduction of default in payment of fees by up to 30 cent .

According to her, during the period under review, a new Parent  Teachers’ Association (PTA) was reconstituted pointing out that the association which had been active replaced all the window louvres  in all the classrooms.

According to her, the PTA  also engaged the services of four Nannies/assistant teachers in the Nursery section of the school.

She said each parent pays N1,000 Development Levy per child pointing out that the Board utilised part of the money realise from the levy to have embarked on an excursion with the students to Abuja by train.

“The Board also expends N60,000 monthly from the levy to three additional staff,’’ she said.

Faruq however appealed to the NTI Executive Management to kindly consider restocking and refurbishing the school’s library as well as deploying more permanent staff to the school which now depends largely on the services of Corps members.

“Our teachers need more training and retraining even as we would appreciate if periodic subvention would be made available to fast track the smooth running of the school. I must admit that the school also needs a Bus to facilitate movement of staff and students,’’ she concluded.
